Just trying my hand at accessories. The one on the left was my first try... but my big sunglasses won't fit into it! So the one on the right is "supersized" to fit.....
Using a pre-quilted commercial fabric. No interfacing, so it's a little slouchier, but still has a nice shape. I also lowered it's "neckline" a little... and used a store-bought binding. I like the contrast....
Made with some retired Longaberger yardage- it's a home dec fabric, so it already had a lot of body, and I interfaced per directions. Probably wouldn't need it, though.
The green trim here represents the carpet in her parlor.... you know, that sculptured olive-green pile that was so prevelant in the '70's..... and you can also see a peek of the ball fringe I added to the cuff. For a memorial garment, it's pretty damn happy!
Fabric/beaded cuff bracelet. Base fabric made my FME over snippets of Angelina, thread, yarn, and fabric bits. Hand-beaded w/ Swarovski button closure. It totally rocks. I love it.... PS. Click on the photo to see the larger size- you'll get to see more detail.-
From pattern.... recycled denim jeans, recycled linen curtains, ball fringe, trim, and glass buttons. All of the materials are significant of my Grandma Helen, who died in April 2007 from complications of Alzheimers'. I added darts in the back for shaping, and added the little ruffle at the bottom, just to make it more "girly." Love, love, love my jacket, and all of the warm memories of Grandma Helen it represents.
