Fused & machine quilted, hand-beaded. Hand made faces from poly clay. She measures about 11X17, and cradles the child within her belly. My meditation for a healthy delivery of my baby girl, born in Feb 2005. I went into labor with her the day I took my last stitch on it!
I decided to use the green fabric as the main accent just because it's "holly" fabric.... but I did realize that it needed the red binding to set it off.
Mom's has 7 blocks, Hollys has 5. The pattern was so easy I felt free to alter it a little after making the first one.
Used red as the main accent on this one, so the green binding was used to set it off. Note the super-cute praire points!
I started off by painting some timtex, then applying some oil paints, then heat-foiling, and then adding a layer of chiffon scarf. Oh, and then free-motioned all over it. The question remains, "what ELSE can I do to them!!????"
Started off with some batik fabric, couched some yarns to it, and satin stitched the edges...and then of course added some bead-y goodness!
Really, the angelinas & heat foils are just too sparkly to photograph well!
The fabric in the lower left portion has been heat-foiled. The fabric along the top I colored w/ Shiva Painstiks. Free-motion quilting...
This time I eliminated the middle section, so it only has 1 pocket... but that's OK, because it was not as stiff & difficult to get into.
Some paint stick action, angelina collage, a stamped angelina dragonfly & silk flower set off the front.
