I'm still working on my Feb. journal quilt, but I wanted to get a pic of the WIP. I'm calling it "The Leader of the Band" after the Dan Fogelberg song. This piece is an homage to my late Pa, who taught me to play checkers (and NOT LOSE WELL, unfortunately,) to roller skate, and to pick out my first tunes on the guitar. He was our families first, unofficial music therapist... and a tinkerer extrordinaire. He loved to figure out how to make things himself, and I'd like to think that I get my "I can do that" attitude from him.
To date, I've painted a piece of "rain-no-stain" for the top, using Liquitex and Jacquard paints. I've layered the quilt sandwich and added my first row of stitching. My intent is to bind it this weekend, and then add my embellishments... I'm just waiting for it to tell me what it needs next.
What a wonderful tribute to your dad (the quilt, and the song). I can never listen to that song without tearing up. And your quilt is lovely too.
