I got my "Lady Madonna" framed and hung recently. The piece has been done for 2 years, having put the last stitch in it the morning that I went into labor with my little girl. It's a small piece, 11X17, but I spent a lot of time on the beading.
I got the idea for the piece from dream.... I woke up on Christmas Eve morning with a vision of the Madonna, with streams of light coming from her head....and she was still with child. (Now, just for context, I'm really not that religious per se, more of a spiritual-type of girl, but I did have my first child, a son, on Christmas eve...and I was 7 months pregnant with baby #2, so it really isn't that hard to figure why I was having dreams of the Madonna....) I hustled into the studio while the vision was still fresh, and sketched it out. Later that day, during naptime, I got the fusing done, the borders on, and the faces made and attached. It took the next 6 weeks, then, to get the beading and hand sewing done. Voila! It was done the morning of February 8th, 2205, and I went into labor that night....and my Dear Daughter was born early on Ash Wednesday- also the Lunar New Year. Very auspicious, indeed. My kids seem to have a penchant for picking holy-days for their arrivals!
Wow, that is spectacular! I love it. So glad you have it framed.

Oh, Jenny, I just love this piece! I love how so many of your pieces have emotional attachments to them.
